India on the Global Shipbuilding Stage

Nor-Shipping in Oslo, a marquee global platform for the maritime industry marked a defining moment for Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) to showcase India’s largest shipbuilding and heavy fabrication facility to the world.

Over the course of the event, the team engaged with global shipbuilders, naval experts, policymakers, and maritime innovators shaping the future of shipbuilding. For India, the event represented more than participation, it demonstrated policy intent translating into action. Under the leadership of Honourable Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), the Indian delegation highlighted the nation’s strategic push toward becoming a major global shipbuilding hub.

The strong international interest garnered during the event reaffirmed confidence in India’s growing capabilities across newbuilds, ship repairs, and heavy fabrication.

We are grateful to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Indian Ports Association for leading the Indian contingent and placing India’s private shipyards at the centre of global conversations.

From ambition to execution, from intent to measurable impact – we are committed to building India’s maritime future, stronger and globally competitive.
